Gray first began pursuing cinematography whilst studying Film Production at the University of Cape Town.
After graduating, he shot his first feature length film, Relics, while living in Japan which premiered at the Durban International Film Festival. He then began working in the South African film industry on various commercials, feature films, music videos and documentaries.
In 2019 he photographed his second feature length film, Jewfro.
Recently Gray shot his second feature length documentary project which is in post production, The Home. It was funded by the NFVF and chosen to represent South Africa at a host of festivals such as: IFP Film Week in New York, Sheffield, Visions Du Reel, IDFA and at Durban Talents, supported by Berlinale Talents.
He also has a well known YouTube channel, In Depth Cine, which produces educational videos on cinematography.
